And say you find somehting that would be cool to submit, but it's got a background & you need to make it png. What process do you use to take that bkgd away? As most everyone knows I use PSP 7 or XI, so that's the program I'd need directions/tutorials for.

some of you have asked how to make goodies so i thought i'd post a lil tutorial. the wording may be a bit different as i use a program other than PSP. please, note that older versions of IE do not support transparent .PNG images. hope this helps and good luck on the goodie making!!

1.) choose an image you would like to use and open it using your photo editing program. i have chosen a puppy with a white background.


2.) create a new transparent image. it should look something like this


3.) copy and paste the image you have chosen onto the transparent image.

4.) remove the white background by using your "magic eraser" tool or whatever it may be called in your program. your image should now look something like this


5.) remove any rough edges using your program's eraser or "feathering" tool.

6.) resize the image to 50x50 or less and save it as a .PNG file.


7.) you're done! that's all there really is to it. have fun and good luck!!

so everyone knows.the current goodies are mostly 48x48 and a PNG format..of course I want to add more!! Dogs, Kitties etc. No more animated..as cute as they are, at times they load sloppy etc and just dont look nice(I wish they did!!). We want to keep the goodies as uniform as possible so they look nice on everyones page.
I know Wilma had some great ones but they were all GIF format and they have that rough black edge so they dont look as nice on a white background as they do on a black..
if someone can clean up some of her images that be great!!

Well I Love everyones goodies that they have made. So I decided I would take a crack at it. I hope non are to big or to small I will re do them just incase I have to go back and check the size but check out what I did..

these are all cute hun but they are in a GIF format..when you make them save them as a PNG..still saves transparent but doesnt leave the edges "rough" looking.

Jenn -- as far as i know i don't think bannershop lets you save transparent. i've had if for over a year now and haven't figured out a way to do it yet -- i may be wrong, and if i am someone please let me know!!!

if you download gimp you can make it transparent.
