sorry this is late getting back to you. Yes I have learned how to do the sparkle in Gimp.
With an image you want to add sparkle to there ... duplicate the image a couple times. (I have downloaded some sparkle brushes.) I add some sparkle in different spots on each image .. then click filters, then animation ... playback to see the finished product. When saving save as .gif
